French Programs Offered By the Board
French Immersion (Grade 1)
As a parent/guardian of a child in a Dufferin-Peel Senior Kindergarten classroom, you may wish to consider the French Immersion program as a possibility for Grade 1 in September. French Immersion is a program in which 90% of the Grade 1 instruction is delivered in French. Instruction in English is added in later years.
Extended French (Grade 5)
Any student who is eligible to attend a Dufferin-Peel Catholic school and who is presently a Grade 4 student is eligible to enroll in the Extended French program for Grade 5 in September. The Extended French program starts in Grade 5 with 50% of the program taught in French. The subjects taught in French are: French Language, Social Studies, Science and one of Visual Art, Music, Drama or Physical Education. The grades 5, 6, 7 and 8 Extended French programs lead into Extended French at the secondary level.
